Workshop “Exploring Biodiversity for Sustainable Development in South East Asia” (EBSEA2013)

On September 16, 2013 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the International Workshop “Exploring Biodiversity for Sustainable Development in South East Asia” (EBSEA2013) » funded by the Agency for French Speaking Universities (AUF) was co-organized by the School of Biotechnology and Food Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam and the Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD), France. The workshop attracted the participation of more than 70 participants coming from 20 institutions of France, China, Thailand and Vietnam

EBSEA2013 workshop aimed at providing an opportunity to share knowledge and experience in vegetal and microbial diversity and biotechnology in South East Asia regions and to setup linkages and future cooperation among scientists and experts in interdisciplinary way.

The workshop consisted 11 presentations followed by rich discussions on the biodiversity of the region, technological innovation in food processing and preservation. The focused topics were: (i) vegetal and microbial diversity of the region; (ii) bioactive compounds and their applications in food, aquaculture and pharmaceutical products and (iii) innovation in food processing and preservation.

EBSEA2013 was a key element of the Pre-project for Inter-university Scientific Cooperation (PCSI) “Exploring Vegetal and Microbial Diversity and Technological Innovation for Food Quality and Safety” funded by AUF, coordinated by HUST in collaboration with CIRAD (France), University of Yunnan (China), AIT (Thailand), VAST, FIRI, HUA, HCMUT, CTU, HUFI (Vietnam). The kick-off meeting among official partners to the PCSI was organized after the EBSEA2013 and focused on the presentation of capacity and collaboration potentials among PCSI partners

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 2nd International Workshop “Exploring Biodiversity for Sustainable Development in South East Asia 2014” (EBSEA 2014), co-organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Agricultural Research for Development (CIRAD).

The aims of the EBSEA2014 workshop are:
- to provide an opportunity to share knowledge and experience in vegetal and microbial diversity and biotechnology in Vietnam and South East Asia and
-  to setup linkages and cooperation projects among scientists and experts in interdisciplinary way.

Colloque «Explorer la biodiversité pour un développement durable»

Une soixantaine de scientifiques d’une vingtaine d’universités et instituts de la France et du Vietnam ont participé, le 1er octobre à l’Institut polytechnique de Hanoi, au 2e atelier international EBSEA 2014.

Intitulé «Exploration de la biodiversité pour un développement durable en Asie du Sud-Est», cet événement était coordonné par l’Institut polytechnique de Hanoi (IPH) et le Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (CIRAD), avec le financement de l’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) pour la période de 2013-2014.

Colloque «Explorer la biodiversité pour un développement durable en Asie du Sud-Est»,  le 1er octobre à l’Institut polytechnique de Hanoi.

 Son objectif était de promouvoir le partage de connaissances et d’expériences dans les domaines de la biodiversité végétale et microbienne et des biotechnologies dans la région de l’Asie du Sud-Est, ainsi que d’intégrer relations et coopérations entre scientifiques et experts en ces matières.

Ce sont onze interventions qui ont été présentées, dont deux de scientifiques français, sur, entre autres, la Fermentation traditionnelle de l’alcool, Huiles essentielles de Litsea Cubeba : exploration de l’activité antibactérienne et monde d’action, la phytothérapie pratiquée au Nord du Vietnam et en Indonésie, Construction d’une collection virtuelle de souches d’intérêt industriel en Asie du Sud-Est...

L’EBSEA 2014 est un des événements clés du Pré-projet de coopération scientifique interuniversitaire (PCSI). L’objectif global du PCSI est d’appuyer les échanges entre partenaires afin d’améliorer les activités de recherche dans le domaine de la valorisation de la biodiversité végétale et microbienne pour la qualité et la sûreté des aliments.

Les activités du PCSI

 * Intégration des experts de nouvelles institutions membres de l’AUF, autres que celles francophones
* Organisation d’un séminaire régional pour présenter et discuter des activités des groupes de travail concernant le thème du projet
Initiation d’un programme de recherche, d’échanges et de mobilité des chercheurs entre partenaires
* Diffusion des résultats de recherche et préparation de propositions de nouveaux projets.
