Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HCMUT)

bkhcm-logoHo Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) was established in 1957. Nowadays, the university includes 11 academic faculties. The Faculty of Chemical engineering consists of 7 departments and has more than 130 academic staff members. The faculty offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in Chemical technology, Biotechnology and Food technology. The Department of Food Technology was established in 1976. Every year, there are approximately 70-75 undergraduate students, 30-35 master students and 2-4 PhD students enrolled in the Department of Food technology.

Research in the Food Technology Department is clustered into several areas, including:

  • Technological innovation in food processing (membrane separation, microencapsulation of food ingredients, ultrasound-assisted extraction, ultrasound-assisted hydrolysis…)

  • Value added products from food processing residue

  • Isolation of thermophilic microorganisms and application to bio-industry
